Destinations: Formentera

ENG. So, this year I decided to take a Milanese vacanze (vacation), which meant I decided to go to Formentera. I wanted to know what the buzz was all about, since most Italians especially Milaneses always go there, and let's just say I was not disappointed at all. It is not a super cheap vacation like I thought it would be, since it is what I consider super "near", but anyhow the place is totally worth visiting. Formentera is a Spanish island right next to Ibiza. Definitely more relaxed than its sister Island but still super fun!  For sure you will most likely hear Italian everywhere, for me it was like being in Miami and just speaking in Spanish and eating latin food. Some may love this some may hate it, but I find it quite interesting how a beautiful island like this has 90% Italian tourists. In my opinion, Italians do have good taste and know how to choose good things because the place is absolutely fabulous. So, for sure I advise everyone to go to this island 'cause it is definitely a bit of paradise on Earth.

ESP.  Estas vacaciones decidí tomarme unas vacanze estilo Milanese, eso quiere decir que me fui a Formentera. Quería descubrir qué era toda la bulla alrededor de esta isla ya que todos mis amigos italianos, especialmente los de Milán casi siempre van allí y pues les puedo confesar que no me decepcionó para nada la isla. No son las vacaciones más baratas que he hecho a pesar de que la isla queda bien "cerca" en mis términos de viajes, pero definitivamente son unas vacaciones que valen la pena. Formentera es una isla española que literalmente queda al lado de Ibiza, pero es mucho más relajada sin dejar de ser divertida! De seguro oirás italiano por todos lados, como digo yo es como cuando estás en Miami y sólo oyes español y comes comida latina. Para algunas personas esto es súper chévere y para otras un poco menos, pero encuentro muy interesante que un lugar tan hermoso como esta isla tenga 90% de turistas italianos. En mi opinión los italianos tienen muy buen gusto y saben escoger bien las cosas porque el lugar es fabuloso. Entonces de seguro les recomiendo visitar Formentera porque definitivamente es un pedacito de paraíso aquí en la tierra.

Destinations: Ulm-Germany

ENG. Ulm is a small city in the south of Germany, known to be an economic center due to its various industries. It has the church with the tallest steeple in the world the gothic ulmer Munster, and I am a live proof of that since I climbed the 768 stairs to the top!

Albert Einstein was born in this city and for a person who loves fashion and craves beauty, as a good libra that I am, esthetically Ulm is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen, and trust me, I have seen a lot of them. So what are you waiting for? Go visit the city, it is totally worth it for a wonderful weekend.

ESP. Ulm es una pequeña ciudad al sur de Alemania, conocida por ser un centro económico por sus varias industrias. Ulm tiene una de la iglesia con la torre más alta del mundo, la iglesia gótica ulmer Münster, y yo soy una viva prueba que eso ya que escalé las 768 escalinatas para llegar a la cima.

Albert Einstein nació en esta ciudad y para una persona que ama la moda y las cosas hermosas, como buena libra que soy, estéticamente Ulm es una de las ciudades pequeñas más hermosas que he visto, y créanme porque ya he visto muchas. Entonces ¿qué esperas? Ve a visitar a Ulm en un fin de semana, estoy segura que no te arrepentirás.

Paraty: A magical place- Un lugar mágico

ENG. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." -Paulo Coelho.

I firmly believe in this quote, that is why I was not surprised that after watching the movie The twilight saga: Breaking down part 1 I said to myself: "I wish someday I could go there" and then a year later I end up in Paraty without even planning it.

For me Paraty is a paradise on Earth. It is not a commercial place so don't expect going there wearing your high heels or your most spectacular dress. Here is a place to be easy going wearing your most natural clothing because the beauty of the place comes from its simplicity.

During the days we were in Paraty we stayed in La Posada Imperial, a comfortable place with a pool and social areas. Very nice to rest at night and to socialize before dinners. Each night we got to go to a different restaurant: two of my favorite were: Il refugio and Banana Terra. In Banana Terra almost all of the food is made out of banana, I was in ecstasy since it is my favorite fruit!

In Paraty we had the opportunity to go out boating around the islands, because Paraty is made up from many different amazing islands, as it is located in the bay of Ilha Grande.  Each time we went in the boat we had the opportunity to drink different flavors of caipirinhas, to relax, to enjoy the amazing view as well as to stop in different islands to swim or to simply have lunch.

To walk around town is a must, the place is super cute, colorful and full of small artisan boutiques worth taking pictures of, and getting something to take back home.

So I recommend to everyone to visit this magical place Paraty! I am pretty sure you will love it as much as me.

Yo creo firmemente en esta frase, por eso no me sorprendió que después de ver la pelicula de la saga Crepúsculo: Amanecer parte 1 yo haya dicho “ ojalá algún día pudiera ir a allí” y un año después terminara en Paraty sin planearlo.

Para mi Paraty es un paraíso terrenal, no es un lugar comercial entonces no esperes ir con tus tacones altos y tu vestido más espectacular. Este es un lugar para estar lo más natural y fresco posible con tu ropa más sencilla porque la hermosura de este lugar está en su simplicidad.

Durante los días que estuvimos en Paraty nos quedamos en la Posada imperial un lugar coqueto y cómodo con piscina y hermosas áreas sociales para estar con tus amigos. Todas las noches probamos restaurantes diferentes, y mis dos preferidos fueron El Refugio y Banana Terra. En Banana Terra casi toda la comida era a base de bananos: yo estaba en éxtasis ya que es mi fruta favorita.

En Paraty también tuvimos la oportunidad de montar en bote y recorrer las diferentes islas, ya que Paraty está conformada de varias hermosas islas por su ubicación en la bahía de Ilha Grande. Cada vez que tomamos el bote tuvimos la oportunidad de beber diferentes tipo de caipirinhas, de relajarnos y de disfrutar de la hermosa vista. También paramos en varias islas para tomar un baño y para comer.

Caminar alrededor del pueblo es algo fantástico, ya que es bien pintoresco, colorido y lleno de tiendas artesanales. Vale la pena tomar muchas fotos y comprar algo para llevarse a casa.Entonces les recomiendo a todos de visitar el mágico lugar de Paraty, estoy segura que les gustara tanto como a mi!

Destinations: Rio de Janeiro!

ENG. If there is a city that can take our breath away, it is Rio de Janeiro... It is a city about beauty, of amazing nature, full of people who are beautiful inside and out, amazing food and drinks and with a carefree mentality that is difficult not to assimilate. Like a friend always says: “what can Brazilians do? they were just born with great genes, they are meant to be as beautiful as their land!" And Rio is a clear example of that. The Cristo Redentor in Corcovado mountain, the Sugarloaf mountain, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana beaches and even the favelas; they all have a magical feel that makes me always think "how can these people work in such a paradise???" People in Rio are friendly, always smiling no matter what, because the beauty of life is to smile even when things are not quite the way you want. So what can I say: Rio is a intriguing, relaxing and fun city all at the same time, the perfect mood for a vacation and to come back to Milan to start this new season! Enjoy the photos and video!

ESP. Si hay una ciudad que nos quita el respiro, esa ciudad definitivamente es Río de Janeiro. Es una ciudad llena de belleza, hermosa naturaleza, con gente linda por dentro y por fuera, excelente comida y traguitos y con una filosofía de vivir la vida libremente, difícil de no querer imitar. Como un amigo mío siempre dice: " ¿que pueden hacer los brasileños? Han nacido con fantásticos genes, y están destinados a ser hermosos ¡como su tierra!” Y obviamente Río es un claro ejemplo de esto. El Cristo Redentor del Corcovado, el Pan de Azúcar, las playas de Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblón y hasta las favelas, todos contribuyen a la magia fabulosa de esta ciudad que me hace pensar : "¿cómo puede trabajar la gente en este paraíso?" La gente en Río es amigable, siempre están alegres no importa qué pase, porque como dicen por allí al mal tiempo buena cara. ¿Entonces qué más les puedo decir? Río es una ciudad intrigante, relajada y divertida al mismo tiempo, tiene la perfecta atmósfera para unas vacaciones ideales y para comenzar una nueva estación. ¡Disfruten las fotos y el video!

Hong Kong: A magical city- Una ciudad mágica

ENG. There are cities that are magical and Hong Kong is one of them. The moment I stepped into Hong Kong I knew I was in love. For me Hong Kong is a mix of New York, Europe  and Asia, difficult to explain! The skyscrapers, the beach, the international and luxurious atmosphere, but  also with a relaxing an inviting feeling to it, basically a perfect city in Juana's eyes!  Hong Kong is one of the world's leading international financial centers, it is recognized by low taxation and free-trade. Hong Kong is known by its modern architecture and by being the world's most vertical city. It is a beautiful city with major attractions such as the Peak, Kowloon, the markets with all their fantastically well-made fakes, the central neighborhood with all its nice antiques, boutiques, restaurants, bars and its hills which very much remind me of San Francisco. The harbor, the ferries, the temples, the herbal teas and the dim sum... I cannot pick up which part was my favorite I just know this is a city I want to go back to and that i wish to live in someday too... So enjoy and hope you get inspired to visit Hong Kong soon!

ESP. Hay ciudades que son mágicas y una de esas ciudades es Hong Kong. Desde el momento en que puse mis pies en esta ciudad me enamoré completamente. Para mí, Hong Kong es una mezcla de Nueva York, Europa y Asia, difícil de explicar. Los rascacielos, la playa, la atmósfera de lujo e internacional pero al mismo tiempo relajada y fresca, básicamente  la ciudad perfecta para Juana! Hong Kong es una de las ciudades líderes mundialmente en el área de finanzas, reconocida por sus bajos  impuestos y libre comercio.   Hong Kong es apreciada por su moderna arquitectura y por ser una de las ciudades más verticales en el mundo. Es una ciudad con grandes atracciones como El Peak, Kowloon, los mercados y sus bolsos falsos pero genialmente realizados, el vecindario central famoso por sus antigüedades, sus boutiques, restaurantes y bares y también por sus colinas que me recuerdan tanto a las de San Francisco. El puerto, los transbordadores, los templos, el te de esencias y el típico dim sum... No puedo escoger qué fue lo que más me gustó de esta ciudad, sólo sé que me gustaría volver y hasta vivir en ella algún día.  Entonces disfruten las fotos y espero que esto los anime a visitar a Hong Kong muy pronto!

Andaz Hotel London!

ENG. Let’s face it, hotels in London, New York and Paris are very expensive and sometimes they are not even that nice for the price you pay. So, when my friend Alison and I decided to visit London for vacations, we were determinate to find a great boutique hotel with a reasonable price and with the home feeling we love. And that is what we got at the Andaz hotel in London.

The Story:

Last December, my friend Alison who lives in New York City and I, mostly from Milan these days, decided to go and visit two of our best friends in London for a long crazy girls weekend. We wanted to try a new hotel and my friend suggested the Andaz hotel. The first time I heard about this hotel was last September when I was in New York City. I had the opportunity to go to the bar-restaurant of the Andaz located in that city and totally loved the atmosphere of the place, which was super cool and urban. So, when Alison suggested to try the one in London I was totally in.   

The Hotel: 

The Andaz boutique hotel is part of the Hyatt hotels. This hotel is located on Liverpool Street in the Shoreditch area, one of the most hip areas of the city, and is well communicated with the tube station right next to it. The hotel is an amazing Victorian building constructed in 1884 but with totally renovated interiors. Once you step inside you are amazed by the modernity and urban style design of the hotel.  The Andaz hotel is very modern, for example, the check is handled via iPad, but even though it is quite technological the hotel never fails to make you feel at home.  This feeling is recreated due to its inviting staff, the complimentary refreshments and free internet in the room as well as the free appetizers, wine, coffee and tea offer for free at the lounge all day long. The hotel has a great balance of modernity, chicness and warmth.

What I loved of the place:

The free internet of course, the free homemade cookies with tea in the afternoon and the free wine and appetizers at night that the staff always offered us as soon as we came back from shopping.  The great customer service, the jukebox at the lounge, the huge rooms and comfortable beds as well as the beautiful bathroom and the relaxed atmosphere in the middle of a chaotic city. What can I say? I loved the hotel!

ESP.  Tenemos que aceptarlo, los hoteles en Londres, Nueva York y París son ¡extremadamente caros! Y algunas veces no valen ni siquiera lo que uno paga por ellos. Por esa razón cuando mi amiga Alison y yo decidimos irnos de vacaciones a Londres, estábamos decididas a encontrar un muy buen hotel boutique con un precio razonable y con una atmósfera tan agradable que te hiciera sentir en casa.  Y pues tengo que decirles que el hotel Andaz superó todas nuestras expectativas.

La historia:

El diciembre pasado mi amiga Alison quien vive en Nueva York y yo que casi siempre estoy en Milán, decidimos ir a visitar a dos de nuestras amigas en Londres para un fin de semana largo de solo chicas. Queríamos  ir a un hotel diferente y nuevo, por eso no dudadamos en seguir el consejo de quedarnos en el hotel Andaz. La primera vez que oí hablar de este hotel fue en Nueva York en septiembre pasado ya que tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar del bar restaurante del hotel Andaz que se encuentra en esa ciudad. Me la pase súper bien ya que el bar del hotel en Nueva York tiene una atmósfera súper urbana y chévere, y por eso cuando Alison sugirió quedarnos en ese mismo hotel pero en Londres no lo dude ni un segundo.

El hotel:

El hotel boutique Andaz es parte de los hoteles Hyatt. Este hotel está ubicado en Liverpool Street en el vecindario de Shoreditch, una de las aéreas más movidas y divertidas de la ciudad, súper bien comunicado con la estación de metro al lado. El hotel es un hermoso edificio victoriano construido en 1884 pero totalmente renovado por dentro. Apenas entras quedas sorprendido del estilo moderno y urbano de él. El hotel Andaz es tan moderno que para darles un ejemplo los empleados del hotel te registran con sus iPads. Pero aunque el hotel es bien tecnológico  nunca falla en hacerte sentir como en tu propia casa. Este sentimiento es recreado gracias a la amabilidad de sus trabajadores, los refrigerios y el internet gratis en las habitaciones al igual que los pasabocas, vino, té y café gratis que ofrecen todo el día en el lounge. El hotel tiene un excelente balance entre el ambiente moderno y cool, y la hermosa sensación de sentirte en tu propia casa.

Lo que me encanta del lugar:

Obviamente el internet gratis, las galletas recién hechas en el lobby y el té que nos ofrecían en la tarde cuando regresábamos de las compras. El vino gratis y los pasabocas en la noche, el excelente servicio, los cuartos cómodos y amplios, el diseño de los baños y por último la atmósfera relajada en el centro de  una ciudad caótica. ¿Qué les puedo decir? a mí me encantó el hotel y se los recomiendo al ¡100%!

Getting lost in Zurich: Perdiendome en la ciudad de Zúrich

ENG. While I was in Zurich a few weeks ago I decided to just walk on my own and get lost in the beautiful streets, admiring the beauty... The best way to make a heart heal, is to wander around in silence until you find your way again...here is the beauty of Zurich...

Mientras estaba en Zúrich hace unas semanas decidí irme a caminar sola y perderme en las hermosas calles mientras admiraba la belleza de esa ciudad… Porque esa es la mejor manera de sanar un corazón, dar vueltas en silencio hasta que vuelvas a encontrar tu camino… aquí les presento a la hermosa Zúrich...

Maldives Anantara Veli hotel- Maldivas hotel Anantara Veli

ENG. I know what you are thinking: all Maldives hotels must be good, all of them are luxury 5 to 6 stars hotels... but what I learned with this experience that the difference is not in the luxury of the hotel but in the service and the people the hotel offers. The more personal feeling you get from the hotel the more it feels like home, and the better that is for me. And this is what this hotel exceeded on: A+ on attention, service, friendly and sympathetic people. It just makes you want to come back.

 

Anantara Veli maldives

 

I went this past summer and when we got there we were kind of bummed because our intentions were to tour India afterwards but unfortunately due to some visa problems we couldn't go as planned. So this completely changed our plans and we ended up going with the flow, staying 10 days in Anantara Veli Maldives. What can I say: A wonderful experience and definitely a place I would love to go back to!

 

The hotel

 

Anantara Veli is a modern luxury resort where chic and simplicity are the main components. The place is located in a charming tropical paradise island with beautiful white sand and amazing Turquoise Ocean. All the rooms are intimate water bungalows with a sun deck and over coral reefs that allows you to dive directly from your room and appreciate the wonders of the ocean. The place is perfect for young couples who are looking for peace and quiet but at the same time want to enjoy some fun water sports.

 

What I loved about the place:

 

Baan Huraa Thai restaurant: one of the finest Thai restaurants I have been too. Baan Huraa is an over-water teak restaurant right next to the ocean. Its signature dishes include coconut curries, I tried most of them since we went back to this place almost five times! The food service is great!

The people and service in general are amazing. They provide you with anything you need and they are always polite and smiling. After just a few days, they know your names and what you like for breakfast. At night, after you come back from dinner you always find your room clean and your bed made even though they had come early during the day. Trust me, those are the little details that make things a bit more special.

 

Swimming with the sharks and all the ocean animal life... It is like being in a blue safari and it gives you a feeling of freedom.

In general the atmosphere of peaceful, quiet, relax but at the same time friendly and chic.

 

ESP. Ya sé lo que están pensando: todos los hoteles de Maldivas deben ser buenos ya que todos son de lujo y tienen 5 ó 6 estrellas… Pero lo que yo aprendí con esta experiencia es que un hotel no se mide sólo por su lujo si no pero por su servicio y las personas que son parte de él. Entre más tengas una sensación de familiaridad, entre más sientas que estás en casa mejor el hotel es para mí. Y este hotel superó todas mis expectativas ya que le doy un 100 por atención, servicio, amabilidad y simpatía de su gente. Solo te dan ganas de volver.

 

Anantara Veli maldives

 

Yo fui a este hotel en el verano, y cuando llegamos estábamos un poco aburridos porque por problemas de visa no podíamos después de eso seguir nuestro tour en India como habíamos planeado. Entonces tuvimos que cambiar completamente nuestros planes y terminamos quedándonos 10 días en  Anantara Veli Maldives. Qué les puedo decir, esta ha sido  una de las experiencias más maravillosas de mi vida y se ha convertido en uno de mis lugares preferidos al cual pienso regresar en un futuro!

 

El hotel

 

Anantara Veli es un resort de lujo moderno donde reina una atmósfera chic y simple. El lugar está localizado en una isla paradisiaca con hermosas playas blancas y un océano turquesa. Todos los cuartos son bungalows en el océano, que tienen una terraza para asolearse y están localizados sobre varios arrecifes de corales, esto te permite lanzarte desde tu propia terraza al océano para explorar la vida marina. Este lugar es perfecto para parejas jóvenes que buscan un lugar lleno de paz y tranquilidad pero al mismo tiempo divertido ya que puedes disfrutar de todos los deportes acuáticos.  

 

Lo que me encanta del lugar:

 

Baan Huraa restaurant Thai: uno de los mejores restaurantes thai al que he ido. Baan Huraa esta prácticamente localizado en el océano. Entre sus platos más famosos están sus curries con coco, que probé casi todos ya que comimos en este restaurante al menos cinco veces.  ¡La comida y el servicio son geniales!

 

El personal del hotel y el servicio son fantásticos. Te proveen cualquier cosa que necesites y son siempre amables y sonrientes. Después de sólo unos días ya conocen bien tu nombre y lo que te gusta desayunar. En las noches cuando regresas después de cenar, encuentras el cuarto limpio y tu cama hecha aunque ya han pasado en la mañana a limpiar. Créanme estos son los pequeños detalles que hacen la diferencia.

 

Nadar con los tiburones y todos los animales acuáticos. El hotel es como estar en un safari del océano y eso te da una sensación de libertad.

Nuestro bungalow el cuarto 180 que tenía la vista más espectacular del atardecer y las estrellas, también todas las actividades acuáticas que el hotel tiene para ofrecer.

 

En general la atmósfera de paz y tranquilidad que al mismo tiempo es amigable y chic sin ser intimidante.

Sicilia: The perfect last minute getaway! Las perfectas vacaciones de último momento!

ENG. Looking for a last minute vacation? How about Sicily? it is just a magical place! From the food, the canolli, the big arid mountains, the phenomenal sunsets, the wild olive trees, San Vito Lo capo, Palermo’s history and culture, the beaches, the sea and so much more… Trust me you will never be disappointed! I have always gone there as a last minute impulse and I have never regretted it! So then, what are you waiting for?

ESP.   ¿Estás buscando unas vacaciones de último momento? ¿Qué tal si vas a Sicilia? ¡Es un lugar mágico! Desde la comida, los canolli, las montañas grandes y áridas, los espectaculares atardeceres, los árboles salvajes de olivas, San Vito lo Capo, la historia y la cultura de Palermo, las playas, el mar y mucho mas… ¡Créeme no te defraudará! Yo siempre he ido allí gracias a mis impulsos de último momento ¡y nunca me he arrepentido! ¿Entonces qué esperas?
