The Sari dress- El vestido Sari

ENG. Hindu  weddings are very special and beautiful, full of colors, happy faces and more than anything, beautiful dresses. Today I want to talk about the sari or saree,  a sacred and wonderful dress worn by Indian women. I had the opportunity to wear one for one of my dearest friends' wedding. She is Colombian and married a Hindu American, and I had the opportunity to enjoy a weekend of Colombian and hindu festivities last August.

For the Hindu ceremony, since I was one of the bridesmaids, I wore a sari. I was amazed by this beautiful dress due to the fact that is more than a strip of unstitched cloth, draped over the body in various styles. A sari is a dress made out of precious, detailed rich fabric, unique, one of a kind. It also has a personality of its own because each color and fabric tells a story and it is directed to a specific type of woman. You show who you are depending of the sari you are wearing; a great expression of personal style!  It is not an easy garment to be worn, actually I had two beautiful hindu women help me put it on. That is why today I want to share a video of how it is worn and also some pictures of me and my friends wearing our saris this past August at my friend's wedding.

Las bodas hindúes son muy especiales y hermosas, llenas de colores, bellas sonrisas y especialmente hermosos vestidos.  Hoy les quiero hablar del sari, un vestido sagrado que utilizan las mujeres de la India. Yo tuve la oportunidad de ponerme este hermoso traje para la boda de una de mis muy buenas amigas del colegio. Ella es Colombiana y se caso con un Hindú Americano, entonces en agosto fui parte de un fin de semana de festividades hindúes y colombianas. Para la ceremonia hindú, como yo era parte de las damas de honor, pude ponerme este hermoso traje.

Para mí este traje es más que un pedazo de tela largo que se envuelve alrededor de tu cuerpo de varios modos. Un sari es un vestido único hecho de detalles y telas preciosas. Tiene mucha personalidad porque cada color y tela te cuenta una historia diferente y cada traje es para una mujer en particular.  Tú muestras quién eres dependiendo del sari que tengas puesto, una forma maravillosa de expresar tu estilo personal. No es una prenda de vestir fácil de poner, ya que me tuvieron que ayudar dos hermosas mujeres hindúes. Por eso mismo hoy les quería compartir un video que te enseña cómo ponerte este hermoso traje y también algunas fotos de mis amigas y yo en la boda hindú!
